Dateline NBC: Most Dangerous Roads

Tonight's Dateline NBC took a look at the nation's most dangerous roads. At the end, they did the top 5 most congested cities. Of course our Los Angeles was #1.

They had an interview with Doug Failing (Director of Caltrans District 7). The reporter asked him "Is it ever going to get any better?"

His reply, after a short pause and a sigh was, "No. No it's not." They cut him off after that and I would be curious to see what he had to say afterwards. Doug's a bright guy and he knows what needs to be done to fix the problems.

Also, NBC was very fair with the evaluation. Instead of saying the solutions are to build more mass transit, they actually admitted it is too expensive and the cities are too spread out. Amusingly, they showed the empty Red Line subway while talking about that. They also briefly discussed HOT lanes.

Don,

Can't you leave people alone? You are a Hitler. Always wanting to bulldoze others' property for your silly freeways. Just double deck the damn thing and be done with it. Jesus, you just have to get your grubby chunky fingers all over things. Why don't you just go to your desert highway and think about what a loser you are in life? What did you amount to anyway? Have you created anything of value? Have you just annoyed people until they wanted to kick your ass?

You look like a haggard nerd lost in a world of obscure and discarded refuse. You may be book smart, but when it comes to the other intelligences of the human mind, you are bankrupt. Interfering with other people's lives in a destructive way seems to be a common thread to your life. You need counseling. Try Arkham Asylum.

Double deck the freeways??? You obviously know nothing about how much that stuff costs. And its people like you who probably complain about paying too much in taxes...
